Born on Sunday at 5 am at home at the Myers' farm. The birth was attended by Dr. James Maxwell and Sarah Ball. Carroll weighed 7 1/2 lbs at birth, 8 1/2 lbs at 1 week, 13 lbs at 7 weeks, and 15 lbs at 3 months and 7 days. On July 13, 1942, Carroll enlisted in the Marine Corps at Kalamazoo. After about 4 1/2 months of training in California, he was sent to Guadalcanal and arrived there in November. Carroll was in four battles (Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian). After marriage to Rusty, he lived at Pendagrasse and Lake Lagrange, New Hampshire. He bought a home and moved his family to Cochection, New York State in 1953, moved to Avon Park, Florida in 1959, then back to Cochection, New York in 1961. [232] |
